Came across this video just browsing around Google Video. It is an extended cut of the gag reel on the Firefly DVD set. This one clocks in at almost 13 minutes and is worth every minute.

Today’s Linkage

Filed under: Links, News, Video Games, Videos, What the fuck? — jakanden @ 8:45 pm

Well, I finally completed King’s Field: The Ancient City. I can understand why the series never gets good reviews critically as it is definitely a fan’s series. I fully enjoyed the game, but as usual the games are really, really hard.

Anyway, I am changing the method of doing these daily posts for two reasons. One, I am too lazy to post a synopsis for each link every day. Two, the subject of the link should give you enough information to decide if you want to click on it or not.

If you are a friend of mine or someone who has read this blog for any time, you will already pretty much know my view of a particular items.

Optimizing Firefox
Well this is actually four links in one post. I am an avid Firefox user and have been for some time. I refuse to use IE unless absolutely necessary and I have tried many other browsers (Opera and Avant to name two).

One of the coolest things about Firefox is the amount of customization, tweaking and extensions (plug-ins) available. These four articles help you get the most out of your browser by giving some excellent extensions, as well as tweaks to make it run faster.

CNet’s Guide to Optimizing Firefox

If you are wondering what Extensions I use, here is my Mass Installer file for use with the extension.

How I Work: Bill Gates

Oblivion: PC or Xbox 360?
A good guide to determine which version of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is right for you. Has screenshots, pros and cons of each and much more.

Nintendo’s Power
The always amazing Escapist Magazine has a great article about the seminal video game magazine Nintendo Power. Well worth a read for any video game fan.

PS3 “Lifestyle” Details
Computer and Video Games has information regarding the PS3 online service to compete with XBox Live. It is pretty much the same as Xbox live with a few additional features such as PSP and Eye-Toy connectivity, but be sure to read it for all the info.

Tribute to Video Games
An awesome video that will make anyone who grew up with gaming teary with nostalgia.

New Clerks 2 Trailer
This movie looks so fucking hilarious that I cannot wait for it to come out. The trailer is an internet exclusive trailer which means it has profanity in it. So if you are in an office, might want to keep the volume down.

Old School Sega Sport Commercial
I actually do not remember this commercial but that didn’t prevent it from brining a smile to my face when I heard the good ol SEGA!!

Chrono Game & New Level 5 Online Game Coming To 360?
If this information proves true, the XBox 360 just made my “I now want one” list. Hironobu Sakaguchi is one of my favorite designers (Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger) and if he has some JRPG’s other than Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey coming, I will not be able to resist.

Top 10 Best Gore Effects
The top 10 best gore effects in Video games. It has the requisite Mortal Kombat and Doom references as well as 1 or 2 I haven’t seen myself. Pretty good list as usual from the IGN Top 10 Tuesdays.

The Revolution is now!

CellFactor = Amazing

Filed under: Video Games, Videos — jakanden @ 6:39 am

I could have sworn I posted this video last week after GDC but apparently I neglected to do so. I could have linked it with other videos, but this video is far too impressive and deserves its own post.

The video in question is of CellFactor, an upcoming game for PC and XBox 360 by newcomer Immersion software. The video shows of incredible physics and graphics and just gives me a total hard-on. It is the first video on the list although all are worth watching.

Now I have been around gaming news long enough to know that the actual released version probably will not look this good, although I have been wrong in the past (IE: Doom 3). However, if it looks even half this good, it will be mine.

Another good one is this video from the recently released Kingdom Hearts II. While I was not a big fan of the first, I also admit that I do not believe I gave it a fair chance. This video alone makes me want to get Kingdom Hearts II though.

It is a pure fanboi vid as it is Sora vs Sephiroth with the One-Winged Angel music playing the in the background. It sort of reminds me of the final battle in FFVII: Advent Children with the flying around and crazy combat which makes me love it even more.

Liam Lynch – United States Of Whatever
The music video of the classic Sifl and Olly song "United States of whatever!". This is one of those songs that when I hear it, it is stuck in my head all day.

Star Wars Lost Clip
I am sure this is on one of the DVD's somewhere, but there are so many special features and clips between the collectors edition that I missed this one if it is.

Remember the 80's
This flash clip is just awesome for those of us who grew up in the 70's and 80's for gaming (myself being the latter). It brings back so many memories and I am almost ashamed at how many of these games I can identify.

Want to learn English?
This company has put out some hilarious videos showing the importance of learning English. One notable one was "what are you sinking?" but I cannot find the video. Anyway, this one is just as funny.

Picture Rims
Yes, these retarded ass Rims are real.

Resident Evil Scares Japanese Gamer
While I admit that the Resident Evil series can make you jump, I never found it "scary" (Like Silent Hill or System Shock 2). This guy is scared shitless though.

Southpark Vs Monty Python
I remember seeing this when it was on Comedy Central and I found it hilarious then. Upon re-watching it now, it is still hilarious.

Super Mario Reloaded
Mario vs a thousand Agent Luigi's. It gets old after a few minutes but it still brought a smile to my face.

Another sweet Parkour Video
Just what the title says. Another great Le Parkour video.

Fraggle Rock Intro
Come on, who doesn't love Fraggle Rock. This show was awesome growing up and upon catching an episode recently, it is still awesome.

The Truth about Sushi and Japanese Restaurants
The truth is out there! A conversation between two Japanese people and how they get away with so much.

Half Life 2 – Banana Phone
A hilarious take on the Internet phenomenon Banana Phone using the Half Life 2 engine. I lost it at the Karate kick myself

Nintendo Sixty-FOOOOOOOOOOUR
This kid goes nuts when he gets a Nintendo 64 for Christmas. Looking back you may wonder why the hell he was so excited, but at the time of its release, the N64 was an amazing console.

Zelda Movie Trailer
A independent Zelda film based off of the video game, "The Ocarina of Time". The movie is supposed to be released this fall and already looks to own anything released by Dr. Boll.

Two Horrible, Horrible Zelda Endings
On the subject of Zelda, Kotaku has posted the endings to the two universally agreed upon to be shite, CD-i Zelda games. For those who do not know, when Philips released the CD-i console, they had a deal with Nintendo to use a number of Nintendo characters including Zelda. So they made these games without ANY input from the big N and god did they suck. Just watch and try not to eviscerate yourself in the process.

G4 Clip: Icons "Sega Dreamcast
G4 Icons is one of the only good shows still on G4 and I have a few of them downloaded (My favorite is still Icons of Doom). This is the show based on the amazing Dreamcast machine. It is such a shame that this console did not stick around because it was far ahead of its time and blew away the competition. I do still have one although I have not used it in some time. I plan to pull it back out soon and start playing my old emulated NES/SNES/SMS/Genesis games on it. Anyway, check out the show.

House of Cosby's
Episode one of the ill-fated House of Cosby's which was pulled due to a cease and desist order from Bill Cosby. The show is fucking hilarious and you can download all 4 episodes at the official site. Also check out the soundboard here.

Half Life 1 Trailer
In the realm of retro, here is the original trailer for Half Life. Most of the things you see here never made it to the final cut, but it is still cool to see it again. I remember being so pumped for this game based on this trailer and while the final product was not what I saw initially, I was far from disappointed (save for that shitty ending).

Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning
An independent film parody of Babylon 5, Star Trek and Sci-Fi in general. The movie is hilarious and the special effects are actually pretty damn good. This is a full length film so you might want to download it and watch it when you have some free time (If you ask me how to download, you haven't been paying attention to these video posts in the past).

Basashi
I posted in my MGS 3: Subsistence post that there were a large amount of hilarious videos available on Secret Theater. Basashi (aka Snake Horse Eater) is one of those videos.

Video Dump!

Filed under: Videos — jakanden @ 8:42 pm

Gamers Getting Pwned!
This video shows you why you do not piss off characters in your video games. It isn’t funny until near the end so stick it out.

Live Action Final Fantasy
An awesome live action version of Final Fantasy VII (Why the fuck does everyone choose VII, it is NOT the best in the series!!). Either way, it is still amusing for RPG fans and goes to show that there are indeed dorkier people on this earth than I.

God Of War 2 Trailer
If you are a gamer and have not played God of War you really should. It was by far one of, if not THE, best games of 2005. David Jaffe (the creator) has said that this one will be even better and unlike most developer idiots, I believe him. This trailer looks fucking awesome and I cannot wait for this game.

Tom Cruise At Yahoo Campus
I hate Tom Cruise. I mean I really do. The guy is an egotistical, overacting, idiot. However, I do find it amusing how people go nuts over seeing him and to see someone at their place of business act like a fucking retard is funny. If I was there, I would have sucker punched that bitch in the face, but oh well.

Bill Gates At Mix06
Say what you want about the guy, but he has a great sense of humor. I personally kinda like Bill Gates and always have. I admire anyone who has the balls to do what he did back in the day to get where he is. Additionally, the guy is a huge philanthropist (more so than many people realize) so it isn’t like he is a “Fuck you all!!” rich guy. Anyway, this is a video of Bill poking fun at himself during the Mix06 conference.

Duke Nukem Forever From The Past
Hot on the heels of the announced Duke Nukem Forever sequel (Whose link I am unable to locate at the moment), Kotaku has put together two E3 videos of the 8 or 9 year delayed Duke Nukem Forever which also had a announcement. Why do they not just give up?

Watch Hasbro TV Shows Online
Hasbro has made a large chunk of their TV shows available for viewing online. These include G.I. Joe, Beast Wars, Nerf, Transformers and more. Now that I have so much time available, I believe I will be watching many of these.

Monday Videos

Mario and Zelda Big Band Life
This is a fairly long video, but it well worth it. It is live performances of Mario and Zelda music arranged into jazz, Latin, country, and bluegrass along with a guitar arrangement of the Super Mario Bros. “main theme” and “underworld theme”.

Muay Thai vs. Capoeria Fight
This is one of the best fight scenes from Tony Jaa’s film Tom yum goong. The music does not really fit the scene (and is not in the movie itself) but it is still a fucking awesome fight. If you haven’t seen the movie – download it now.

Karate Bloopers
This is a hilarious anti-drug commercial. I recall seeing this on TV so I am unsure about the whole “Banned” thing. It is still one of the better commercials of these types though.

Video Game Theater
I cannot sum this up any better than the person who uploaded this did:

Who knew Pac-Man was a junkie and wife-beater? Or that Frogger is a terrorist, and Donkey Kong and Mario are pitted in an epic manage-a-trois of princess passion?

Fucking hilarious

Karate Cop
Short but funny.

Will Ferrell is George Bush
Even though I am not a big Will Ferrell fan, he does do a good Bush impersonation.

Wickedly Cool Robot
Even though this is a bit longer than it needs to be, it is still a sweet video.

Kung-Fu Clowns
This is what a commercial should be.
